DIAMOND EDUCATION: THE 4Cs

Understanding diamonds is the key to making a confident purchase.

Whether you choose a Natural or Lab-Grown diamond, its value and beauty are determined by four globally accepted standards:

1. CUT

The Cut is the most important factor in a diamond’s brilliance.

It refers to how well a diamond’s facets interact with light.

A perfectly cut diamond will reflect light from one facet to another and project it through the top, creating that signature sparkle. Grades: Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

2. COLOR

Diamonds are graded on a scale from D (colorless) to Z (light yellow).

The less color a diamond has, the higher its value. D-F: Colorless (The rarest and most premium). G-J: Near Colorless (Excellent value for money).

3. CLARITY

Clarity measures the presence of inclusions (internal) or blemishes (external). Most imperfections are microscopic and do not affect the diamond's beauty to the naked eye. FL/IF: Flawless. VVS1/VVS2: Very, Very Slightly Included. VS1/VS2: Very Slightly Included (Recommended for eye-clean beauty).

4. CARAT WEIGHT

Carat refers to the diamond's weight, not necessarily its visual size. Two diamonds of equal carat weight can have different values depending on their Cut, Color, and Clarity.

הבנה ביהלומים היא המפתח לרכישה בטוחה וחכמה. בין אם בחרתם ביהלום טבעי ובין אם ביהלום מעבדה, ערכו ויופיו נקבעים לפי ארבעה סטנדרטים בינלאומיים:

1. CUT

 (חיתוך - פרופורציות) 

החיתוך הוא הגורם המשפיע ביותר על הנצנוץ של היהלום. הוא קובע כיצד פאות היהלום מחזירות את האור. יהלום שנחתך בפרופורציות מושלמות יחזיר את האור בצורה מקסימלית דרך חלקו העליון. דרגות: Excellent (מצוין), Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

2.

COLOR (צבע)

יהלומים מדורגים בסולם שבין D (חסר צבע לחלוטין) ל-Z (צהבהב). ככל שהיהלום נקי יותר מצבע, כך ערכו גבוה יותר. D-F: חסר צבע (נדיר ויוקרתי ביותר). G-J: כמעט ללא צבע (תמורה מעולה למחיר).

3.

 CLARITY (ניקיון)

דרגת הניקיון מעידה על קיומם של פגמים פנימיים (תכלילים) או חיצוניים. רוב הפגמים הם מיקרוסקופיים ואינם נראים לעין בלתי מזויינת. FL/IF: נקי לחלוטין. VVS1/VVS2: נקי מאוד (תכלילים זעירים ביותר). VS1/VS2: נקי לעין (הבחירה הפופולרית ביותר המשלבת יופי ומחיר).

4.

CARAT (משקל קראט)

קראט הוא יחידת המשקל של היהלום (1 קראט = 0.2 גרם). חשוב לזכור ששני יהלומים בעלי אותו משקל יכולים להיראות בגדלים שונים ולהיות בעלי ערך שונה בהתאם לאיכות החיתוך שלהם.
